In 1923 Hemingway and his wife returned to Toronto, where their son Jack Hemingway (John Hadley Nicanor Hemingway) was born.

At the same time, Hemingway’s first collection of short stories, “Three Stories and Ten Poems,” was published, followed by a second collection, “in our time” (written in small letters). In 1925, a collection of short stories, “In Our Time” (written in capital letters), was published in the U.S., with critics praising his fresh style.
