Florida is the most prone to hurricanes states of the US. Hurricane season starts on 1st June and lasts till 30th November, however, serious storms can occur outside this season as easily.

Between 1851 and 2006, Florida was hit by 114 hurricanes, of which 37 were of the cat. 3 or higher. Most of the hurricanes hit between August and October.
